Tushar Mountains, UT

In early April 2017, Karen and I left Ben at Grandma's and did a ski tour over a couple days in the Tushar Mountains in southern Utah. We parked a car at the end of the road and skied with our guide a couple miles up to a yurt.

The yurt had a skylight, a wood stove, and bunks that could sleep six, though we were the only folks for miles around during our stay. We only had to pack in our food, gear, and clothes. The previous group even left us the tail end of a bottle of fine scotch whiskey, so we toasted the evening before settling in.

Our guide skied in the next morning with his dog to take us through the trees to some good skiing on nearby slopes.

Good powder and no crowds or lift lines!

I skied some steeper stuff above the yurt while Karen did some reading and relaxing.

It snowed heavily on our final day.
